Life as a House

2001 · New Line · Theatrical

FAIL

Summary

George Monroe learns he has terminal cancer and decides to rebuild the dilapidated home of his childhood. The project becomes a way for him to reconnect with his estranged teenage son.

Why it fails

Do they have their own story?

Cancer chiefly motivates family repair, especially father-son reconciliation.

Are they allowed to live?

Death is framed as meaningful completion of house/family legacy.

Does the medical reality hold up?

Terminal diagnosis and decline are compressed and medically thin.
